A comprehensive Emergency Shut-Down (ESD) system provides a level of safety unprecedented in the industry. Minimizing the potential volume and duration of accidental LPG release is an important safety area. While some protection against a system breech is required in basic construction (e.g., NFPA 58's requirements for excess flow valves), comprehensive Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems offer improved containment. An ESD application normally includes actuated valves in all tank openings, fuel transfer connections and at other locations. Remote and automatic closure of these valves can quickly seal the system. Interlocks to main system control, site power supply, off-site alarms, etc. can yield controlled, safe shutdown and improved emergency response.
ESD systems include actuated valves at key points to quickly seal and isolate the system upon activation.
	Multiple remote shutdown stations allow for operator interaction. In addition to product isolation, all system equipment stops and your facility returns to operation on natural gas. An alarm indicates the ESD system has tripped requiring manual reset prior to continued operation.
Gas and flame detection systems can be installed to monitor critical plant areas, and integrated within an ESD system for alarm and/or automatic shutdown of the plant.
